Shift Days – (see hours of work for details) – 37 hours a week

 

The Sub-Contracts (Logistics) Team Member is responsible for managing the seamless logistical flow of parts between the company and external sub-contractors.

This role ensures that raw materials or semi-finished components are securely prepared and sent out for specialised sub-contract processing (e.g., machining, heat treatment, plating, special processing etc), and that returned parts are verified and logged back into inventory to maintain production timelines.

 

Supervisory & Line Management Responsibilities

Accountable to the Senior Team Member (Sub-Contract Logistics)

Shared responsibility in ensuring the Goods Inwards & Material Despatch Areas functions effectively and adds value to the business.

Responsible for achieving specific targets and objectives as set by the Supply Chain/Procurement Manager

 

Main Responsibilities and Activities

Playing an active role in supporting the team in achieving all activities in a safe, accurate and timely manner.

 

Despatch Operations (Outbound to Sub-contractors)

Prepare Materials/Parts: Pick, count, and kit raw materials or semi-finished parts destined for sub-contract work.

Secure Packaging: Pack heavy, fragile, or complex components securely using appropriate materials to prevent damage during transit.

Documentation: Ensure accurate despatch notes, sub-contract POs, and specific processing instructions  accompany the parts.

Logistics Coordination: Support in coordinating with approved couriers or the company’s transport team to schedule timely collections and track outbound shipments.

 

Receiving Operations (Inbound from Sub-contractors)

Verify Deliveries: Cross-reference incoming sub-contractor parts and delivery notes against the original Purchase Orders (POs) to confirm exact quantities and part numbers.

Quality & Damage Inspection: Visually inspect returned parts for transit damage or obvious processing defects before signing off on deliveries.

Discrepancy Reporting: Flag and document any shortages, incorrect parts, or quality failures, and communicate them directly to the Procurement/Purchasing team and the sub-contractor

System Updates: Log completed sub-contract operations into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) management system immediately upon receipt.

Route Materials: Ensure orders are labelled correctly and there is zero risk of damaging parts when transferring to the next stage of production or inspection

Traceability: Ensure 100% component traceability by preserving batch numbers, material certificates, and job routing cards.

Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe loading dock and staging area.

Equipment Safety: Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) following health and safety guidelines

 

General

Safely and efficiently managing the loading and unloading of carriers

The transportation of goods internally, ensuring traceability of receipt as applicable, (this will involve some manual handling)

Supporting the team generally to ensure all KPI’s are met

Identifying opportunities for improvement within the department

Carrying out ‘team-training’ within skill-sets

Carrying out various hands-on operations across all skill sets to support team objectives

Identifying any elements for improvement

Experience and Qualifications  *(Training provided for suitable candidate)

Computer Literate

Demonstrate an understanding of all Mapics/Browser/Intellichief screens relative to carrying out all tasks as described within the Job Description*

Use of Microsoft Office to support completion of clerical and administrative tasks in a timely and efficient manner

Hours of work

Overtime available when required

Day Shift:   Monday – Thursday (7:30-16:00) / Friday (7:30 – 12:30)

Note*: Very occasionally, there may be a requirement for early/late shift working.
