Position Description; Scope of the role;
To supervise the Final Inspection Team, its associated processes and outputs.

Specifically, responsible for the Final Inspection teams: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Continual improvement.

Supervisory & Line Management Responsibilities
•           Supervisory responsibility for both shifts (approx. 10 people).

•           Leading the teams daily activities and providing an immediate escalation point for Quality Control personnel.

•           Provide feedback and support to Quality Control personnel.

•           Prioritise multiple activities with competing demands and set clear actions.

•           Responsible for the work area.

•           Be a reliable point of contact for other NMB Departments

Main Responsibilities and Activities
Responsibilities 

•           Supervision / leadership of NMB Final Inspection team.

•           Assisting QC Manager and Leading hands with Department Initiatives and workload.

Activities  

•           Team: Shift changeover meetings and awareness – ensure shifts are fully briefed on any changes, priorities or quality alerts.

•           Documentation & Reporting: Produce and interpret detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate documentation in line with quality management systems (QMS), and highlight any non-conformities to supervision.

•           Collaboration & Support: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, resolve dimensional issues, and provide feedback for inspectors, production operators or engineering teams.

•           Equipment Management: Conduct routine validation checks on inspection equipment, to ensure they are in working order.

•           Area Management: Ensure work area conforms to minimum standard, looking to continually improve the 5S and effective layout.

•           Quality Assurance: Support supervision to ensure all inspection processes comply with relevant industry standards, particularly AS9100 and As9102 FAI documentation requirements.

•           Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across inspection methods, metrology processes, and reporting tools using methodologies such as 8D, Kaizen, SPC, Gauge R&R and measurement data analysis

•          Any other task / activity as may be considered reasonable within the scope of the job title and salary position.

•           The size / scope of the team may be expanded upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential

•         Experience: Machining and / or Inspection within a similarly regulated industry.

•        Attributes: Aptitude for a leadership role.

•         Technical Knowledge: Good understanding and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, knowledge of GD&T principles and how to inspect to them.

•         Attributes: Great people person and natural leader, honesty and professionalism, strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, effective communication, prioritization and teamwork abilities are crucial.

Desirable

•         Previous experience as a machinist or inspector.

•         Previous experience leading quality inspection teams in a precision engineering industry.

•         Relevant management qualifications (e.g ACAS, IOSH, CMI, IMI).

•         Education: Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent experience(e.g. Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent).

Hours of work
Overtime available when required

Day Shift                      Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 16.00pm

No Premium                   Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm

 

A Shift                           Monday to Thursday 6am to 1:35pm

No Premium                   Friday 6am to 12:45pm

 

B Shift                           Monday to Thursday 1:25pm to 9:05pm

20% Premium                Friday 12:35pm to 7pm
