Reports to (Position) Leading Hand – Turning
Position type Permanent
Grade Grade 6 (£24,454) to Grade 8 (£27,842) per annum (TBC based on candidate experience)
Shift A/B Shift Rotation (see hours of work for details) – 37 hours a week
Position Description; Scope of the role;
Applicants should be able to read engineering drawings, use standard measuring equipment and have an understanding and appropriate experience of general turning principles. Tasks will include setting and operating manual lathes and ensuring parts are manufactured within allotted time and conform to drawing.

Main Responsibilities and Activities
•           Setting/operating manual turning machines

•           Ensuring processed parts conform to drawing

•           Ensuring parts are processed in the allowed time

•           Ensuring all documentation is accurate

•           Supporting the area in carrying out alternative tasks as required

•           Supporting other team-members as required

•           Achieving Production / Arrears / Quality / Efficiency targets as identified by Production

Experience and Qualifications
Essential

•         Diligent

 

Desirable

•         Previous experience of working in an engineering environment.

•         English Language and Maths to GCSE grade C or above

•         Computer Literate (ideally with a recognised qualification)

•         Experience in the use of standard measurement equipment.

•         Can demonstrate good numeric skills.

Hours of work
Overtime available when required

 

A Shift                           Monday to Thursday 6am to 1:35pm

No Premium                   Friday 6am to 12:45pm

 

B Shift                           Monday to Thursday 1:25pm to 9:05pm

20% Premium                Friday 12:35pm to 7pm
