2 x Process Technician – Machining
Salary Range: Grade 8 £26,041 – Grade 16 £36,835 Dependant on Experience, plus shift premium.
Description of Position
- CNC Machining Technicians are involved at all stages of the manufacturing process, monitoring and improving the areas under their control.
- Their job is to know this process in great detail as they will be responsible for identifying when the process is deviating from the norm and acting to correct it or involve senior members of staff if/when required.
- A key feature of the role is to maintain accurate and clear documentation that proves that these processes are being carried out in accordance with both internal and external regulations. It is important that procedures are followed, but it is also important that it can be shown and proved that procedures were followed.
- A Process Technician is also responsible for the gathering of data from their process and reporting it to senior staff members (typically an Engineer)
Main Responsibilities and Activities
- To ensure production is running smoothly, identifying and resolving any issues and their root cause as quickly as possible to minimise any downtime of production.
- Root, Cause, Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Process audits
- Process Improvements – Scrap / Rework / Downtime / Productivity
- Creating and maintaining documentation & specifications
- Training / validation
- Liaising with suppliers / sub-contractors
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting and operating CNC Machines
- Competence using manual measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers and callipers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Dependable, responsible contributor who is committed to excellence and success
- Strong interpersonal skills (team worker)
- Be able to work with minimal supervision
- Prepared to follow procedures
- Attention to detail with problem solving skills
- Target orientated
- Diligent
Desirable
- NVQ in Engineering Manufacture or equivalent / Advanced Modern Apprenticeship
- Proficiency is MS Office (MS Excel & MS Powerpoint, in particular)
